Muslim faithfuls in Ndop, Ngoketunjia Division have prayed for peace and normalcy to return to their division in particular and the restive North West and South West Regions in general on Friday April 21.
This was, at the Bamunka-Ndop New Layout prayer ground during the commemoration of the Feast of the Ramadan.
It was in the presence of the CPDM Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North Constituency, Hon Njingum Musa, the Senior Divisional Officer of Ngoketunjia, Handerson Quetong, Mayor of Ndop, Ntoh Daniel, Fon of Bamunka and other dignitaries.
During the prayer session, Imam Bouba of Ndop Central Mosque, urged the Muslim faithful and the entire population to encourage peace and inculcate the spirit of living together during security challenging moments.
On his part, Hon Njingum Musa, a Muslim faithful from the Division, who doubles as Questor at the National Assembly, praised the turnout by the population. He said it was a clear indication that things are gradually getting back to normal in Ngoketunjia Division.
“It was a wonderful ceremony because the turnout shows that the mindsets of the people are getting back to normal. So, the fear that was in them is actually going away. The security forces have also been doing their best to make sure that the population is safe from the difficult situation that was brought by our children in the bush,” Hon Njingum said.
The Member of Parliament for the Ngoketunjia North Constituency added that more is still to be done to foster peace in the Division. He also revealed that his aim is to see Ngoketunjia come back to live again.
“I think that to an extent, it is getting better and normalcy is coming back in the Region. But more is still to be done because I have tried to talk to the population to reinforce their capacity to make sure that they cooperate with security forces so that peace continues coming back in the Division, and also that the activities of Ngoketunjia will be back as it used to be,” Hon Njingum added.
The huge crowd which turned out for the prayers and celebration, later staged a peaceful walk, led by Hon Njingum Musa, on the streets of Bamunka with the dignitaries as a sign to reawaken the population and instill hope in them.
Before going for Ramadan celebration in Ndop, Hon Njingum Musa had earlier visited the Ndop main market, where he urged vendors to take ownership of their market and make it lively as it used to be.
Hon Njingum Musa, it should be said, is one of the Ngoketunjia elite who have been championing the crusade for return to peace in the Division.
